Bacteriology

Hospital-based and private pathology centers employ our Bacteriology Laboratory’s extensive array of diagnostic services. This work entails diagnosing sexually transmitted illnesses, identifying parasite infections, and diagnosing Legionellosis. A group of medical clinics that focus on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and travel medicine can also use the lab’s diagnostic services.

Our Bacteriology Laboratory can help diagnose, confirm, and classify malaria and other blood-borne parasites like filariasis, leishmaniasis, and trypanosomiasis. It can also give advice on how to treat them.

AptVet laboratory maintains an index reference library of stained and unstained positive malaria blood films for educational and quality assurance initiatives. Blood containing malaria parasites is maintained for study and development. Malaria-positive control material is provided upon request to laboratories and educational institutes.

Our laboratory personnel participate in continuing education programs pertaining to tropical parasitology. In the laboratory, visiting scientific, medical, and paramedical personnel receive training in the laboratory diagnosis and speciation of malaria parasites.
