Bacteriology

Hospital-based and private pathology centers rely on our Bacteriology Laboratory for a comprehensive range of diagnostic services, particularly those related to bacterial infections. This includes the diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases, identification of parasitic infections, and the detection of Legionella species. Our services are also invaluable to medical clinics specializing in HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and travel medicine.

Beyond bacterial infections, our Bacteriology Laboratory plays a crucial role in the diagnosis, confirmation, and classification of malaria and other blood-borne parasites such as filariasis, leishmaniasis, and trypanosomiasis. We also provide expert advice on treatment options.

To support ongoing education and quality assurance, our laboratory maintains an extensive reference library of stained and unstained positive malaria blood films. We also preserve blood samples containing malaria parasites for research and development purposes. Additionally, we offer malaria-positive control materials to laboratories and educational institutions upon request.

Our laboratory staff actively participate in continuing education programs focused on bacteriology and tropical parasitology. We also provide training opportunities for visiting scientific, medical, and paramedical personnel, specializing in the laboratory diagnosis and speciation of bacteria and malaria parasites.
