Diagnostic Immunology

AptVet Laboratory serves as the Nigerian public health reference laboratory, performing serologic assays for the identification of patient antibody responses to germs, parasites, and viruses. The techniques applied range from traditional to contemporary.

The laboratory performs reference-level testing for the confirmation of serologic data indicating the presence of infectious illnesses reportable to Nigerian clinical agencies. Through partnerships with public health laboratories, this laboratory aids in the investigation of infectious disease outbreaks and contributes to disease surveillance.

Diagnostic testing of primary materials is not frequently undertaken, with the exception of specific public health programs. Problematic cases can, however, be accommodated by consultation with the laboratory.

The lab works with other public health and academic groups to offer hands-on training in the development of serologic tests.
